“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined,” by H. D. Thoreau is Nancy Seamons Crookston’s favorite quote and one that she has lived by. Nancy grew up in the small town of Hyde Park, Utah, where she was nurtured by a close community of family and friends. Nancy’s talent for drawing developed at a young age and has always played a significant part in her life. After years of university classes and workshops, Nancy discovered the great Russian master colorist, Sergei Bongart. Her formal training with Bongart elevated her career. Nancy evolves as an artist because of her passion to learn and become better. Always studying color, the human form, shadow, and light, Nancy continually transforms the everyday life scenes to beautiful masterpieces.
Nancy is most known for her figurative oil paintings—beautiful beach scenes, contemplative female figures, mothers and children. Her paintings show her mastery of true color and the human body. Her charcoal and pen and ink sketches have been recognized by an international audience. She has taught workshops all over the United States. Nancy is living the life she imagined in Alameda, California. The bay area is the perfect palette for her artwork, rich with diversity, culture, and beauty. You will find her most mornings sketching with her husband at a local breakfast café. Nancy has been featured in magazines such as Southwest Art, U.S. Art, American Artist, and more. Her many rewards include the Gold Medal Award at the Oil Painters of America Master Signature Division 2018 Salon Juried Show, Merit Award 2015 American Impressionist Society, Gold Medal Master Award at the 2014 23rd National Oil Painters of America Master Signature Division, Bronze Master Signature Award at the 2013 National Oil Painters of America Show, Gold Medal Award at the 2011 Eastern Regional Oil Painters of America, Master Signature Division, Gold Medal Award at the 2000 National Oil Painters of America Show.
