Over the past sixteen years I have made several attempts to compose the proverbial ‘artist’s statement’. And with each attempt, I have agonized over the task of actually defining who I am as an artist and what I want my work to represent and be remembered for in the vast community of figurative artists. Reading back over previous statements, I realize that, like most of my works of art, I too have been a ‘work in progress’.
But unlike the work of art where I eventually have to step back and declare it finished, my inner voice relentlessly whispers encouragement to strive for a little more technical perfection, a little more beauty, a little more meaning to share with the world.
The one fact that I am certain of is that I must be true to that inner voice and trust that it will result in works of art that bring beauty as well as light, truth and inspiration into the world.
