Brenda Boylan remembers at a very young age expressing her curiosity and imagination with crayons on paper, clay, paint, bubble-gum wrappers, and anything she could get her hands on. She earned a BS degree in Applied Art and Design at Cal Poly State University and has been a creative adventurer since. Her natural sense of balance, color, and design has provided immense joy and success with her art. Inspired by the great Impressionists, her color-filled work has gained honorable Master recognitions with the International Association of Pastel Societies and the Pastel Society of America, and holds Signature status with the American Impressionists Society and the Northwest Pastel Society. Currently Brenda brings her creativity, energy and knowledge of pastel painting to students online, and has been a featured instructor at several Plein Air Convention and Expos.
Native to the West Coast and a graduate of California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, Brenda began her creative career as a designer for high profile sportswear clients. Ten years later and desiring a more fulfilled and meaningful life, she carried her sense of balance, color and composition over to fine art and has never looked back. Inspired by the Impressionists, her color filled work has gained national Signature recognitions with the Pastel Society of America, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and the Northwest Pastel Society. She paints competitively in plein air events and has been a featured instructor at the 2nd, 3rd, and 6th Plein Air Conventions.
Brenda’s work has been published in The Pastel Journal (cover story), Southwest Art, Plein Air Magazine, The Art of Plein Air Painting, The Best of America Pastel, and displayed at the Favell Museum, The Butler Institute of American Art Museum and the Oregon Historical Museum.
