“As an artist I am uniquely privileged to spend time observing the rhythms of nature. Every season offers up its own unique gifts: I wait with great anticipation for long summer days and golden hills, then breathe a sigh of relief when the first hint of color comes into the autumn trees. I get my cold-weather gear ready weeks in advance so I won’t miss painting that magic first snow, then celebrate when a brave spring flower pushes its way through the sleeping winter landscape. Painting allows me to keep my finger on the pulse of the natural world. Standing at the edge of the ocean or looking up to the peaks of the mountains, I feel a communion with a higher source – God, Nature, the Creator, whatever you want to call it – that humbles and inspires me. Each season has its own beauty; each time of day its own visual rewards.”
